not once but TWICE in this week i have given a $20 to the starbucks barista after purchasing a single dark roast coffee and walked away without retrieving my change.
both times they have sweetly pursued me to give me back the $18 change, since I am obviously incapable of tending to myself.
goal: behave more like a grownup.

to a better day
of course, it will be better.
there will be a day, someday, when i look back and my last 8 years don't seem like a lie, a long and mean lie.
there will be some day when i can parse my past out into the respective spaces, when i can not just feel tremendous sorrow when i see earrings i wore at my wedding, or pictures of a family holiday, or remember the way he danced in the kitchen or painted in the living room. or whatever else. i mourn the loss of my little family, the way i viewed my life, the man i thought i knew.
it feels like the last decade is a wasteland.
i still search for the way to explain what the end of a marriage feels like. abrupt, unceremonious, ugly. eviscerating.
